Ole Miss currently uses a recruitment process rather than a single open tryout described by a permanent skill checklist. For students seeking a place on the 2027–2028 team, the official process begins with the Ole Miss Cheer Interest Form, continues through in-person clinics and recruiting evaluation, and may include a paid video submission.[13][15]
Current-information note: Requirements and dates can change. This guide separates details published for the current recruitment cycle from general preparation advice. The official Ole Miss recruitment page and registration system control if anything here conflicts with them.

Current 2027–2028 recruitment process
The current Ole Miss athletics page describes four stages:[13]
- Complete the interest form. This only notifies the staff of your interest; it does not guarantee recruitment.
- Register for and attend an in-person Fall 2026 clinic.
- Obtain Fall 2027 admission to the University of Mississippi and follow the official instruction to email a PDF acceptance letter to the program.
- If selected as a Top Recruit, continue through official fall and spring Recruit Weekends. Ole Miss says the 2027–2028 teams will not be finalized until late spring 2027.[13]
Completing an interest form is not an offer or roster position.[13] Applicants should monitor the email address used on forms and follow the current instructions from Ole Miss Cheer.[13][15]
Video submission window
The current Ole Miss Sports Camps registration page lists 2027–2028 recruitment video submissions from July 22 through November 30, 2026. It lists All Girl, Coed, and Both registration options at $105 including fees, and instructs applicants to complete the program questionnaire before registering.[15]
Because fees, dates, and forms can be updated, verify them on the live registration page immediately before paying or submitting.[15]
Current video format
The current registration instructions require a public or unlisted YouTube link and a video no longer than five minutes.[15] The video is organized in this order:
- Introduction: up to two minutes covering the requested personal, academic, program-fit, and athletic questions.
- Game Day: the assigned Fight Song (“Forward Rebels”) and “Rock N Roll” material, including the route-specific skills named for All Girl or Coed.[15][25]
- Technical Skills: the candidate’s current tumbling and stunt material, following the official categories and filming rules.[15]
The technical footage must use hard floor or grass—not spring floor, air track, tumble track, or rod floor—and stunt clips must show the complete skill through the dismount.[15] The page lists advanced standing, running, and stunt expectations, but also says not every selected member will possess every listed skill. Treat the list as the current video showcase and evaluation guide, not proof that every listed skill is a universal roster minimum.[15]
What is verified—and what is not
Verified for the current cycle
- Ole Miss is recruiting athletes for Fall 2027.[13]
- The process begins with an interest form and uses in-person clinics as an evaluation route.[13]
- A 2027–2028 video-submission registration is currently available for grade 12 through college senior applicants; the detailed section narrows the intended audience to 2027 graduates and college transfers.[15]
- The program identifies All Girl and Coed routes in the video-submission registration.[15]
Not currently verified on the main recruitment page
The current official recruitment materials reviewed for this update do not publish a universal:
- minimum standing or running tumbling pass;
- required list of jumps;
- required stunt positions;
- 2.0 GPA or 12-credit standard;
- six-month physical requirement;
- fixed team size; or
- single permanent tryout-day packing list.
Do not treat an old packet or another university’s checklist as the current Ole Miss standard.[13][15] Ask the program only after reviewing the current form, clinic page, and registration instructions.[13][15]
How to prepare for Ole Miss recruitment
Start with the official pages
Before training around a specific deadline or skill:
- open the Ole Miss Cheer Recruitment Process;
- complete only the current interest form linked there;
- review the current video-submission registration;
- check Ole Miss Cheer for clinic announcements; and
- use the contact listed on the current event page for event-specific questions.
Prepare evidence of your strongest current skills
A recruitment video should represent skills you can perform safely and consistently. Follow the official three-segment order, five-minute limit, framing, surface, link, and route-specific instructions.[15] Do not present every listed advanced skill as a universal selection minimum.[15]
Learn the program’s game-day material
The current video instructions and Fall Clinic I materials use “Forward Rebels” and “Rock N Roll” game-day material.[25][15] Confirm the exact route-specific videos and embedded skills on the live submission page before filming.[15]
Use clinics as evaluation opportunities
Ole Miss describes its clinics as skill-development and recruiting opportunities. The current Fall Clinic I page says the clinic develops technique, memory, work ethic, and coachability while providing recruiting exposure.[25]
Clinic attendance should therefore be approached as both training and evaluation.[25]
- follow attire and check-in instructions exactly;
- arrive with only safe, repeatable skills;
- listen and apply corrections;
- support partners and communicate clearly; and
- treat all staff interactions professionally.
A decision checklist for applicants
Before paying or traveling, verify:
- [ ] the cycle and team named on the form;
- [ ] applicant grade or enrollment eligibility;
- [ ] whether an interest form must be completed first;
- [ ] clinic or video deadlines and time zone;
- [ ] All Girl, Coed, or Both selection;
- [ ] current fee and refund terms;
- [ ] required video order, attire, and link settings;
- [ ] admissions steps for Fall 2027; and
- [ ] the email address where the program will send updates.
Safety and training
Do not attempt a new tumbling or stunt skill alone for a recruiting video. Train with qualified supervision and use the hard-floor or grass surface required by the current video instructions.[15] A clean, controlled skill that follows the prompt is more useful than an unsafe attempt at an advanced skill.

Frequently asked questions
Does Ole Miss hold a traditional open tryout?
The current athletics page describes a multi-step recruitment process, not a single permanent open-tryout checklist.[13] Follow the current interest-form, clinic, acceptance, and recruiting steps.
Is tumbling required?
The current video page requires Game Day and Technical Skills segments and publishes route-specific tumbling and stunt expectations.[15] It also says not every selected member will have every listed skill, so the advanced list should not be rewritten as a universal roster minimum.[15]
What GPA does Ole Miss Cheer require?
A current cheer-specific GPA minimum was not found in the present recruitment materials reviewed for this update.[13][15] The 2.0 figure previously stated on this page came from older material and has been removed from the revised draft. Applicants still must satisfy current university admissions and any program requirements communicated directly.[13]
Do I need to attend a clinic?
Yes for this published cycle: the primary recruitment page directs candidates to attend one Fall 2026 clinic, and the current video page calls clinic attendance required while recommending more than one opportunity where possible.[13][15]
Who should I contact?
Use the contact on the current recruitment or event page.[13][25][15] Staff assignments and email addresses can change; an old packet is not a reliable current contact directory.
