Th Cheer Team tryouts will be held in Brooks Gym on the campus of ETSU. The tryout fees. Please bring CASH only!!! ETSU Cheer team tryouts will be held over a period of 2 days. The first evening of tryouts is just for incoming Freshman, transfers, and anyone currently enrolled at ETSU but not on the current team. This portion of tryouts will be held on Friday evening, in Brooks Upper Gym on the campus of
ETSU. Please bring the following paperwork with you to tryouts:
1. Completed Cheer Team application
2. Proof of Admission to ETSU (copy of acceptance letter OR University ID)
3. Signed ETSU Waiver form
4. Copy of your insurance policy card (front/back)
5. tryout fee (cash only) If you so choose, you may scan and email any paperwork to the Spirit Coordinator at vaneatonv@etsu.edu prior to tryouts. Please make sure that you get a confirmation email back from the Spirit Coordinator that your information has been received.
The tryout will consist of tumbling, preliminary stunting, and Fight Song review. A cut could possibly be made after this portion of the tryout if needed. If you are chosen to move forward to the day 2 portion of the tryout, your number will be posted on the ETSU Cheer Team Instagram page.
Attire:
- Hair half-up half down,
- white bow,
- game day make-up,
- NAVY T-shirt (ETSU preferably),
- Navy shorts,
- tall white socks,
- cheer shoes.

DAY 2 – All current members of the team, that are trying out for the Cheer Team, will need to bring their completed application so that you can register.
Please note that you ONLY need to fill out the 1st page of the application.
The candidates that were chosen to move forward from Day 1 Tryouts will be held any timev . You can find an explanation on the ETSU Cheer Instagram under Tryouts. There will be a panel of evaluators assisting the Spirit Coordinator in selecting the 2024-2025 ETSU Cheer team. However, selecting the team is ultimately the Spirit Coordinator’s responsibility. Please remember that this is ultimately your tryout. If you have any questions during the tryout, please don’t hesitate to ask for clarification.
If you would like to show your skills again, please let the evaluators know. We want to make sure you show the evaluators your best effort. No spectators. No exceptions. If it is found that someone is trying to sneak in and watch, looking through the cracks of the door, looking in the windows of the door, etc., the person they are connected to will be automatically disqualified from tryouts and asked to leave immediately. If you are chosen for the Cheer Team, your name will be posted on the front doors of Brooks Gym following auditions as well as on the ETSU Cheer Instagram page. We will have a new team meeting on Sunday, April 14th in Brooks Upper gym. Time will be announced at Tryouts. This meeting in MANDATORY! Your parents are welcome to attend as well. You will be signing your contract, getting sized for uniforms, warm-ups, and, etc. Please see the ETSU Cheer team application below!
