Lafayette College picks its cheerleaders through a short online tryout, not a spring tryout weekend. Lafayette Athletics’ Lafayette Cheerleaders page asks interested women and men to submit a brief tryout through a Google Form by June 1. The page doesn’t say which season that deadline belongs to, and as of September 30, 2026, no newer tryout details were posted. Confirm the current deadline with the coach before you apply.
The Team
- Lafayette’s varsity cheerleaders cheer for football from September through November and for men’s and women’s basketball from November through March.
- The most recent roster Lafayette has posted is for 2024-25. It lists positions such as base, backspot and flyer.
- Conference: Lafayette competes in the Patriot League.
How the Tryout Works
- Submit through the Google Form linked on the cheer page, by June 1.
- What the tryout includes: two cheers, two short dances, a spiriting segment, and the option to show stunting or tumbling experience.
- If you make the team: stunting is mandatory during the season; tumbling is optional.
Lafayette doesn’t publish a minimum GPA, required skill list, fee or tryout dates beyond the June 1 deadline. You don’t need tumbling to make the team, but be ready to learn to stunt.
Contact
Lafayette’s staff directory lists Rhiannon Abrahamsen as Cheerleading Coach, at abraharh@lafayette.edu. The cheer page also invites questions by Instagram direct message (@lafayettecollegecheer).
